We are all guilty of checking our Facebook accounts at inappropriate times. The only difference between most Singaporeans and MP Penny Low is that we aren’t broadcasted live to the nation.
Yup, you read that right! She was caught on national television checking her facebook while the National Anthem was playing. There’s even a video of it:
She has since apologised for it, saying:
“I was so caught up in the wonderful NDP 2011 and felt so proud of being a Singaporean that I wanted to capture that moment of pride at the very tail end of the anthem, to share on Facebook with my residents,” she said.
“If in my enthusiasm I offended anyone, please accept my apologies,” she said. “NDP is a time to unite, not divide. Majulah Singapura!”
If Zubir Said was still alive, i think we all know who he’ll be unfriending on Facebook.
